COVID-19 has caused serious concerns around the world regarding international travel. The Meetings Industry in Canada has been monitoring this situation carefully and we are very proud of the care and diligence that our members across Canada are taking to ensure delegate safety. From Coast to Coast to Coast, Canada has always taken health concerns very seriously and our industry continues to do this throughout this challenging time. If you are looking for suggestions for dealing with this issue, please visit the Meetings Mean Business COVID-19 info page: https://www.meetingsmeanbusiness.com/coronavirus-resources

Given that the Meetings Industry generates 34% of our tourism in Canada, it is critical that we remain vigilant in our care for our delegates while not panicking based on what may be happening in other parts of the world. With 229,000 jobs reliant on the Meetings Industry, there is a very real impact on many Canadians when events come to our country. A disruption to this will directly impact those who rely on this business for their livelihood.

About Meetings Mean Business Canada

Meetings Mean Business is the single advocacy voice of the meetings industry in Canada. Our key focus is to communicate the importance of these business events to stakeholders across the country in order to promote investment to ensure our industry prospers. Through our relationship with the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC), we communicate the economic and social value of face-to-face meetings and business events to elected officials at all levels of government. This is intended to assist our leaders in government as they shape policy and legislation to grow the industry across Canada.

As of now, we encourage continued participation in meetings and travel in the U.S.

With the coronavirus situation evolving rapidly, we urge meeting organizers, participants and vendors to consult the latest travel guidance as they prepare for upcoming conferences, conventions, trade shows and exhibitions.
