Monte-Carlo (Principality of Monaco).– Important news for professionals who organize events, represent hotels, venues or destinations and provide services: the Sustainable Event Professional Certificate (SEPC), one of the main international event sustainability certifications for the meetings & events industry, becomes available for the first time in Europe.

Relaunched by the Events Industry Council, the global champion for event professionals and event industry excellence promoting high standards and professionalism in the events industry with the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program and signature program initiatives, the SEPC credential will debut in Europe from December 2 to 4 at the Fairmont Monte-Carlo on the initiative of both Miek Egberts’, Owner, InspireME Monte-Carlo boutique consultancy agency specializing in creative and high profile MICE events, and Claudia van’t Hullenaar, Founder, Sustained Impact, a consultancy helping organizations connect organizational success with societal value.

Miek, a Certified Incentive Travel (CITP) and Meeting Management Professional (CMM) as well as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), is not new to international prominence, having received the Jane E. Schuldt SITE Master Motivator Award last May, the world’s biggest recognition for the motivators of the meeting & incentive industry. She’s also served twice as president of Site Italy Chapter, and chaired the organizing committee of the first Site+MPI Global Forum taking place in Rome last January.

Claudia is a longtime multi-disciplinary professional in marketing communications and sustainability and has a corporate background. During that time she developed and implemented an award-winning global corporate event sustainability program (IMEX-GMIC Green Meetings Award). She is Certified Event Designer (CED) and Sustainability Advisor in the Meetings Industry, and serves as Sustainability Committee member of the Events Industry Council (EIC) in the APEX Standards Redesign Taskforce and as a Climate Reality Leader.

Both Miek and Claudia are committed to sustainable development, helping organizations develop strategic solutions and integrate responsible business approaches in events and businesses.

«Sustainability is essential in today’s business world. It has been a topic in the meetings industry for many years, with some organizations doing exemplary work. But more needs to be done for greater awareness and adoption. As organizations today are aware of the growing importance of sustainable business practices, the further integration of sustainable strategies and practices for face-to-face programs is more important – for environmental, social and economic benefits. The certificate course will help enhance the knowledge and performance in designing and operating events more responsibly».
