Starting this Tuesday 5 January, the search for visit.brussels Awards 2016 applicants is under way for Brussels tourist initiatives. For more than a decade the visit.brussels Awards ceremony has been honouring projects that actively foster Brussels’ image at home and abroad.

Original productions, projects, activities and concepts are invited to register under one of the nine categories listed below. The public will first select the three best projects in each category. Then, a panel of Brussels tourist industry professionals will pick the 2016 edition winners from among the finalists. The prizewinners will be announced and will receive their award on 19 April 2016 at the visit.brussels Awards & Networking Night.

  • «NEW CONCEPT 2015»

A bold innovation or original project burnishing Brussels’ tourist image, all industry sectors combined.

  • «EVENING EXPERIENCE 2015»

Recognises a concept that contributes to the richness of Brussels’ parties.

  • «MOST NOTED EXHIBITION 2015»

Recognises a major exhibition that has contributed to the cultural and tourist standing of Brussels.

  • «INTERNATIONAL EVENT 2015»

Recognises a major event or international directed to the general public in Brussels.

  • «BEST GASTRONOMIC CONCEPT 2015»

Recognises a gourmet activity, event, or concept that enhances Brussels’ tourist offerings.

  • «NEW EVENT & TOURIST LOCATION 2015»

Recognises the opening or renovation of a place vital to the tourist or special event image of Brussels.

  • «HOTEL NEWCOMER 2015»

Recognises a new concept, innovation, or renovation in the Brussels hotel industry.

  • «INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS & FAIR 2015»

Recognises a convention or major international event held in Brussels for professionals.

  • «PUBLIC INITIATIVE 2015»

Recognisesa government agency or similar initiative (quasi-governmental companies, one of the 19 communes, regional agencies, etc.) having contributed to our capital’s tourist appeal.

Key dates:

  • 14th February (midnight): closure for entries
  • 22th February: start of public votes
  • 20th March (midnight): closure of the public votes
  • 21th March: announcement of the three nominees
  • 19th April: visit.brussels Awards & Networking Night 2016
