Thought leaders from nine distinct field of studies will assemble in Melbourne
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) and its partners Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Club Melbourne, Crown Metropol, Novotel Melbourne South Wharf and Showtime Event Group won the right to host the 2019 Workshop after putting forward a compelling bid.
Julia Swanson, Acting Chief Executive Officer, MCB said, “Melbourne Convention Bureau and our partners are delighted to be hosting the ICCA Asia Pacific Client Workshop in September. Melbourne has established itself as a premium business events destination. The city’s infrastructure, world-leading conference facilities, limitless accommodation options, an extensive transport system, countless attractions plus its global recognition as a knowledge capital are all part of the city’s success as a business events destination.”
“We look forward to welcoming ICCA members and international association executives from across the region and showcasing our famed ‘Team Melbourne’ approach.”
Noor Hamid, Regional Director Asia Pacific, ICCA echoed, “ICCA is delighted to bring together the association community and our top members to the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter Business Workshop – where innovative ideas are sparked! Sixteen thought leaders from eight countries will meet in Melbourne to discuss future collaborations that will resonate beyond these meetings. On behalf of ICCA, we would like to thank Melbourne Convention Bureau and their partners for their undivided support.”
“I sincerely hope that this workshop not only creates an opportunity for future endeavours, but sparks great friendship far beyond that of strictly business relationships,” added Hamid.
The Workshop, a much sought-after event in this region, will bring together 16 association leaders, who are decision makers and influencers of international associations verified by ICCA, and 19 ICCA member organisations to meet face-to-face, build connections and discuss possible future collaborations.
In this constantly-evolving and escalating international association meetings industry, the workshop will not only focus on one’s destination but will also serve as a platform where association leaders and our renowned ICCA members keep each other up-to-date with the latest developments in this ever-growing industry.
The three-day event, dense with business sessions and networking opportunities, saw a positive take up from ICCA members, with slots filling up rapidly ahead of the registration deadline.
In addition to the business sessions, delegates will be taken on a thrilling walk through the world-renowned Melbourne Biomedical Precinct, where new discoveries are made every day in the field of biomedicine. In an extra nod to Melbourne’s strong reputation as a global hub of research, the workshop programme is scheduled to end with a thought-provoking panel session and discussion: “The role of precincts in fostering collaboration, growing the city’s research credentials, and amplifying international business events.”
Now in its eleventh edition, the ICCA Asia Pacific Chapter Business Workshop has been held in outstanding business destinations across the region. Previous workshops were held in Xi’an in 2018, Busan in 2017, Fukuoka in 2015, Gold Coast in 2014, Macao in 2013, Kuching in 2012, Taipei in 2011, Singapore in 2008, Seoul in 2006 and Kuala Lumpur in 2005.
